Abstract of the conference: In the present lecture I examine anti-gender politics, concentrating on their specific articulation the geographical and cultural space of Eastern Europe. Concentrating on Romania, I highlight transnational trends and vernacular declinations of anti-gender politics in the chosen polity. Furthermore, I discuss whether Eastern Europe is yet another battlefield for anti-gender politics, or a unique setting, characterized by specific developments and strategies developed in the context of particular historical experiences and sociological and cultural legacies.
